Workshops
90% of my professional practice has involved the wider community in the design or creation of a sculpture. Since I undertook a residency funded by the crafts council in 1999 at Ruffwood Comprehensive school I have been involved in community arts projects from 1 day sculpture projects to 10 week residences. I have worked with four year olds in reception, the most difficult of excluded teenagers, teachers to retired friends groups. Last year 'Horse' and the canal project won the BURA award (British Urban Regeneration Award) for the category of best community arts project.
Workshops have included cardboard construction, clay modelling, drawing, modroc, wood carving, soap stone carving, casting from the landscape, working with found objects, marble runs, paper folding, mask making, kinetic sculpture. Workshops can be tailored to groups or classes abilities and needs.
